Shae Waters
For Rev. Shae Waters, service began long before he wore a uniform. It took shape in Fairmount, Maryland, through his mother Diane’s example, his grandmother Beulah “Nanny” Waters’s faith, and the influence of his father, Rev. Dr. Ricky Spain.
Also known as Shae Spain, Waters began his public safety career in 1997. His experience includes the Wicomico County Department of Corrections, Ocean City Police Department, Crisfield Police Department, University of Maryland Eastern Shore Police Department, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Snow Hill Police Department, and Maryland Natural Resources Police.
An ordained elder at Cathedral of Deliverance Church in Fruitland, Maryland, he also serves through guest preaching, speaking, and community outreach. His background includes certification in pastoral counseling and work as a mental and emotional resilience coach.
In Shadow Servant: Behind the Badge, Beneath the Cross, Waters writes about the demands of these responsibilities with personal candor. His wife, Angel, and daughter, Shaela, are central to his account, which explores the challenge of caring for others while protecting his family, health, and faith.
